How to clean baseboards without bending over

Your main focus is to figure out how to stay standing or sit on a chair throughout the whole task. To accomplish this, you’ll need the help of long-reach tools—for example, a long duster, a mop, a broom, and a spray bottle for easier application. Now, follow these steps:

Step 1. Dust the baseboards

The first step towards clean baseboards is to get rid of the dust. To do so, grab a long-handle tool (mop, broom, flexible duster, etc.) and sit or stand comfortably.

All you have to do now is run your mop or tool side to side over the baseboards. If you’ve opted to use a chair, just keep in mind that you’ll have to move it along with the entire length of the baseboards. With the dust removed, it’s time to wipe.

Step 2. Spray soapy water and wipe the baseboards

To clean the stains and remaining dirt on the baseboards, you’ll need something to break the grime, and soapy water will do the trick nicely! Pour water and a splash of dish soap into a spray bottle and apply it to the tiles.

Then, with the help of a mop (or a broom covered in microfiber cloths held with rubber bands), spread the solution over the baseboards—you can even put in a little more force and lightly scrub the surface while still standing or sitting.

Note: It’s easy to overlook some parts, so make sure every last inch of the surface is clean by running your tool over the sides, borders, and crevices.

Step 3. Dry the baseboards

Once you’re done scrubbing and wiping the stains away, rinse the baseboards with your mop or cloth-wrapped broom and clean water—you can either spray the water from a bottle or dip your tool in a bucket.

After you’ve washed the baseboards, you need to dry them to remove the excess moisture. To do this, stand or sit comfortably and run your cleaning tool (make sure it’s dry) from side to side over the baseboards.

Step 4. Prevent future dust (optional)

An excellent way to stop your baseboards from collecting so much dust is to wipe them with dryer sheets. These sheets help remove static cling from the baseboards, which usually attracts dust, dirt, and loose hairs.

To use dryer sheets on your baseboards without bending over, grab a broom and cover it with the sheets on both sides. Then, attach the sheets with rubber bands or a ribbon. That’s it! You can now run the broom from side to side over the baseboards.

While this last step is optional, it’s helpful if you want to keep dust at bay and have clean baseboards for longer.
